What happens to a child who has suffered unspeakable abuse? Statistics paint the picture of a bleak future filled with emotional and behavioral problems, poor academic performance, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, and incarceration. But what if the trajectory of that child’s life could be altered by a fun-filled week of unconditional love?
The mission of Royal Family Kids Camp is to create life-changing moments for children of abuse through a free week of summer camp.
It is the honor and privilege of RFKC Camp #55 – Tulsa to serve 7 – 11-year-old foster children in the Greater Tulsa Area. In the summer of 2018 we celebrated our 20th year of providing camps for these deserving children.
Over these past 20 years, the volunteers of Royal Family have witnessed firsthand the positive impact that results from sharing a week of singing, hiking, kayaking, fishing, swimming, creating, building, laughing, and playing with children who have experienced trauma due to abuse, abandonment, and neglect.
Some of our campers’ favorite events at camp include Woodworking in Mr. Jerry’s Shop, Tea Party with Miss Marilyn, RFK Carnival and Everybody’s Birthday Party!
Our camp is sponsored by the congregation of Christian Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. We are honored to receive tremendous support from our church body, board, and pastors. In fact, we have the rare pleasure of being able to staff our camp completely out of volunteers from our church family.
For two consecutive camps, we have had the joy of having all six of our staff pastors serve with us at camp!
